Agricultural lime is applied to the ground to neutralise acidic soil. This promotes optimum growing conditions for arable crops and pasture land.
With intensive farming or grazing, nutrients are leached from the soil and it becomes progressively more acidic.
Agricultural lime is produced by crushing and screening freshly dug chalk with no additives.
A lime spreading service is available within a 20 mile radius of the quarry using a low ground pressure spreader which is able to fit through a 10ft entrance. Alternatively lorry loads can be delivered if you wish to spread the lime yourself.
